Liz Montgomery first stepped into a yoga class while studying dance at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and immediately sensed the power of combining breath, movement, and mindfulness. She completed her 200-hour certification in Hatha/Vinyasa yoga with the Perri Institute for Mind and Body in 2011. Since then, Liz has furthered her studies with courses in essential oils, pre/post-natal methods, yoga for children, and seasonal Ayurvedic practices, as well as studied Buddhist Philosophy with Sharon Salzberg and Shastri Ethan Nichtern through the Interdependence Project. In addition to teaching yoga, Liz performs with Sarah Holmes Danceworks.
Liz Montgomery teaches yoga that is secular, anatomically-focused, and honors the individuality of each student's practice. As a dancer and poet, Liz draw from a lifelong study of and fascination with movement and words when crafting classes. Her teaching focuses on anatomical understanding and acceptance. Class builds inevitably from simple to more complex postures, always with a focus on inquiry and self-compassion.
