Courtney Thompson

Courtney is an avid lover of the African Diaspora who continuously gravitates towards expressing her African Roots through her first love, Dance. Some of her first memories as a toddler include the stage, confirming her passion for artistic expression. Having trained in various styles of dance including tap, hip-hop, and reggae, she believes her favorite is the derivative of them all, African dance! While attending Howard University, Courtney expanded her love for African dance by joining, then leading, one of the most revered traveling African dance troupes, Omoge. Fully focused on her holistic health, Courtney reached major fitness goals by changing her diet through veganism and increasing her exercise regime to dance away excess weight and stress. Her fitness journey allowed her to lose a total of 70lbs and gain back her love of life, especially through dance. She currently aims to motivate others to find the enjoyment, empowerment, and lifelong benefits of fitness and wellness through African dance fitness as a certified KUKUWA® instructor who is excited to share this versatile style of African dance fitness with the anyone willing to try!
The mission of the Mark Morris Dance Group is to develop, promote, and sustain dance, music, and opera productions by Mark Morris and to serve as a cultural resource to engage and enrich the community.
