Mami Tomotani was born in Fukuoka, Japan. She worked with Matthew Bourne’s "New Adventures" for 16 years and was a principal dancer with the company. Productions included TONY award winning Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, The Car-man, Highland Fling, and Edward Scissohands which won the 2007 New York Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Theatrical Event. She recently performed in The King and I at The Royal Albert Hall in London. Mami joined the Shiki Theatrical company when she was 15 years old. Her credits included Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love and HANS (Andersen). She has performed for Suisei company in Fame playing Iris Kelly. She has taught for the Re:Bourne company across the globe and was a guest teacher for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures. Also she has taught for Carnegie Mellon University and Cedar Lake Dance Company. She is guest dance teacher at LaGuardia High school for Drama part. Mami is the Assistant Director for The Broadway Experience in NYC. She choreographed “Zanna Don’t!” for Pittsburgh University and “Oliver!” for The Broadway Experience studio performance.
