Lily McAteer received her BFA (Magna Cum Laude) in Dance Performance from The Ailey School/Fordham University, where she studied under Ana Marie Forsythe, Melanie Person, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Kazuko Hirabayashi, and others. Upon graduation, McAteer joined the faculty at the Mark Morris Dance Center, as well as at The Ailey School’s Junior Division. From 2014-17, she served as Resident Choreographer and Programs Director for The Mirror Theater in Greensboro, VT, overseeing and teaching in all Arts-in- Education and children's programming, in addition to choreographing The Mirror’s professional productions. McAteer has performed with Ballet Neo, Eglevsky Ballet, XAOC Ballet, and Nomad Contemporary Ballet, as well as in dance pieces by Joyce Trisler, Anna Sokolow, Camille A. Brown, Emery LeCrone, and Sean Curran. As a choreographer, She has worked on a diverse range of productions, including Carousel, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Sound of Music, Kiss Me Kate, Disney’s The Sleeping Beauty, Annie Get Your Gun, Alice in Wonderland, and Hamlet; she also served as Dance Captain for the world premiere of Sinners, directed by Olivier Award winner Brian Cox. McAteer is currently also a Teaching Artist for Alvin Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs and New York City Ballet, as well as for MMDG’s Community Programs, with a focus on Adaptive Dance. She loves sharing the joy of movement with all dancers. She is thrilled to once again be part of the MMDG family.
