Selina Chau

A dance artist from Hong Kong, Selina Chau started her professional ballet training at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and went on to dance with Hong Kong Ballet under the directions of Stephen Jefferies and John Meehan. As a coryphée dancer, Selina took on leading roles in the company’s classical and contemporary repertoire, including Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake,The Rite of Spring, Cinderella and Rubies. Selina was granted full scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2008 to pursue her Master of Fine Arts degree at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, with a focus in choreography and pedagogy. Her dance work has been presented in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Manila, Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul and New York.Selina currently teaches ballet technique at Tisch Dance, NYU and also dances with The Metropolitan Opera where she had the opportunity to dance in one of Mark Morris’ operatic work, Nixon in China.

The mission of the Mark Morris Dance Group is to develop, promote, and sustain dance, music, and opera productions by Mark Morris and to serve as a cultural resource to engage and enrich the community.
