Stephanie Panousieris grew up in Dallas, Texas and started dancing before her second birthday. During her many years of recreational and competitive training, she grew to love choreographing and teaching as much as performing. While earning a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Texas, Stephanie served as co-director at Lonestar Dance Center for Performing Arts in Pflugerville, TX and began to bridge her love for dance with her passion for social activism and community-based art programs. After graduating, Stephanie went on to earn an M.A. in Social Justice and Human Rights with a concentration in NGO Management from Arizona State University. Her time in graduate school was spent exploring dance as a universal medium for non-violent social and political protest and as a catalyst for individual and collective healing. Her research culminated in a 30-minute documentary film entitled Movement as Protest: How Dance Functions as a Medium for Social Change.
