Royal Shakespeare Company
Participants in this master class get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process of the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), including the rehearsal of an ensemble scene from their presentation of King Lear at BAM this season. RSC Assistant Director Anna Girvan and several members of the company lead with a vocal warm-up, followed by a close textual analysis of the play, and finally an exploration of various ways of staging this pivotal scene, featuring several of the principle characters. Ideal for actors at the beginning stages of their career, this unique class offers an in-depth look at what it takes to translate Shakespeare’s text from the rehearsal room to the stage.
For emerging professional actors.
