Morris Dance Group descends on Fairfax
By: by David Hoffman, Special to the Fairfax Times
Mark Morris, still the dancing world's strapping bad boy at age 54, brings his legendary dance group to Fairfax for two public performances Friday and Saturday at George Mason University's Center for the Arts.
Morris is largely retired from performing, but he said he is looking forward to his annual visit, hosted by the university's School of Dance, partly because the area audience is so receptive to his work and also because he found four of the 18 dancers in his troupe in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area, including two -- Rita Donahue and Billy Smith, from Fairfax and Fredericksburg, respectively -- who will be performing this weekend.
