MHS, PMA-Certified Pilates Teacher
Debora Sandiford was introduced to Pilates during her rehabilitation from emergency spinal surgery. Although surgery provided an immediate solution and saved her from being paralyzed, Pilates gave Debora the confidence she needed to believe her body would be functional once again; and, Pilates continues to provide tools for Debora to gain an ever-increasing awareness of her body’s needs — especially after two challenging pregnancies. As one who suffers from chronic pain, Debora understands the longing to move freely and confidently in your body. She hopes her clients’ commitment to practicing Pilates allows them to thrive in their bodies every day (that’s her motto!). Debora finds fulfillment in connecting clients with the true potential their bodies and minds possess.
As a Pilates instructor, Debora combines her experience and skills in health sciences along with her desire to positively impact individual lives into precise yet welcoming Pilates programming. She is an alumna of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and while she has delved into a career in global health, her passion for Pilates has grown simultaneously. Debora completed the Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Program to become a Pilates Method Alliance (PMA®) Certified Pilates Teacher. Prior to teaching privately in Brooklyn, she taught in both the physical therapy clinic and boutique Pilates studio settings in Southern California. Debora enjoys continuing her education in movement through Pilates workshops across the country, and is currently earning her certification as a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.
