Katsuko Tanaka


KATSUKO TANAKA is a Japanese native pianist based in New York City. She received a BA in classical performance from California State University, Long beach and a masters in jazz piano performance from Queens College. Katsuko moved to New York in 2008 and immediately began performing at venues such as The Steinway & Sons, The Dwyer Cultural Center, and for the HITN Cable network. Her professional experiences in diverse musical styles led her to accompany at the Mark Morris Dance Center, NYU Tisch, NJPAC, Manhattan Youth Ballet, Peridance, Capezio Center, etc. In 2009 Katsuko recorded her debut album “Beyond Intersection” with internationally acclaimed jazz musicians, Antonio Hart, Willie Jones III, and Danton Boller. The album features her original compositions which are unique by blending two cultures. She is actively leading her own group in New York City and in Japan.
