Kyara Mahlen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She’s a recent graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s in English Creative Writing and a minor in Drama. She has spent the past four years immersed in the student-led arts community on various production teams which piqued her interest in arts management. Prior to this role, Kyara was the Co-President of a theater organization, a writing intern for a photography studio, and a dramaturg/production archival intern. Kyara spent most of her adolescence training pre-professionally in Horton, ballet, hip-hop, and West African dances, as well as working with a team to put on an annual production of Dancer’s Responding to AIDS shows; thus she is eager to return to the dance community with MMDG.
