Founded in 2001, the Dance Center serves as the home of the Mark Morris Dance Group and a cultural hub for the Brooklyn community. Located in the heart of the thriving Brooklyn Cultural District, it contains nine column-free studios, including the James and Martha Duffy Performance Space, a studio/black box theatre with theatrical lighting and removable raked seating, plus two terraces, lounge, and lobby. Two studios, a courtyard, and lounge are located in the bi-level Judith R. and Alan H. Fishman Space opened September 2019. All studios feature sprung floors, audio systems, and pianos and are rented to dance artists and nonprofit organizations at affordable rates.
The Dance Center features a diverse range of dance and fitness classes for adults, beginner to professional; a School that serves students ages 18 months to 18 years; and the Wellness Center, an exercise and therapy suite. The third floor houses the administrative offices along with Mark Morris’ office and Howard Gilman company dressing room.
We value all members of our community and are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive culture and environment for learning, creating, and sharing that celebrates our differences. We aim to reduce barriers for participation by providing the necessary resources, accommodations, and support to ensure a positive experience.
