Why is this change happening?

The Mark Morris Dance Center is committed to upholding its core values of Community, Access, Artistic Excellence and Creativity. To ensure access to excellent dance education for the entire community, tiered pricing options, in collaboration with our scholarship program, allow us to take collective action to reduce financial barriers that have traditionally prevented some students from participating. While they are more accessible rates, payments made Tier 1 and Tier 2 do not cover the actual costs of class. As a non-profit organization, Mark Morris Dance Group subsidizes costs that are not met by Tier 1 and 2 payment options to continue to offer these options for students at those income levels. In order to continue to offer our programs with support staff, live music, and in our state of the art facilities, students who are able can support us and our community by selecting the Tier 3 pricing option. Tiered tuition is run on an honor system; we do not request or examine financial records of any individual. The information above is provided as a guide to help determine which pricing tier you most likely fall under. We recognize there may be situations in which this guide is not applicable.

How do I apply for a partial scholarship?

The Mark Morris Dance Group provides a limited number of partial scholarships per 6-month term of the year. Terms are Winter/Spring (January-June) and Summer/Fall (July-December). Application periods are in November for the Winter/Spring term and May for the Summer/Fall term. The application will be made available on the Adult Programs page of our website during these times. These partial scholarships are made possible in part by the Allan and Rhea Bufferd Education Fund.
