Yonah Gershator

Yonah Daniella Gershator (lyric mezzo-soprano) is a freelance artist based in New York City on her first tour with the Mark Morris Dance Group. As a member of the New York Choral Artists and Concert Chorale of New York, she has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras,conductors and festivals including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic,Vienna Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, London Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, American Symphony Orchestra and Mostly Mozart Festival. Her recent performances include Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with Los Angeles Philharmonic/Dudamel, Brahms’ German Requiem with New York Philharmonic/Dohnányi and the NY Premiere of Salonen’s Karawane with New York Philharmonic/Gilbert.

Other ensembles she has performed with include Bard Summerscape Opera and Festival Choruses, Oregon Bach Festival, and Yale Choral Artists. She has also sung with various NYC church and temple choirs and at present sings in the solo quartet at Park Avenue Synagogue.

Originally a pianist and flutist, Gershator attended Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and the University of the Virgin Islands. Also, building on her study of various dance and movement forms, she became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner. Along with her performing schedule, she teaches private lessons to musicians in the Feldenkrais® Method.
