Yonah Gershator

Yonah Daniella Gershator (mezzo-soprano) is a musician and teacher based in New York City. She has sung with many notable vocal ensembles such as the NY Choral Artists, Concert Chorale of NY, Bard Summerscape Opera and Festival Choruses, Oregon Bach Festival, Yale Choral Artists, and Eugene Opera. Recent performances include a premiere of Salonen’s Karawane with the New York Philharmonic, Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with Los Angeles Philharmonic, a MMDG Midwest Tour of Dido and Aeneas, National Sawdust's presentation of David Lang's YOUTH with Voices of Mollusk, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with The Orchestra Now, and An Elegy for All Humanity event with chamber ensemble Music Viva NY. As the alto in the vocal quartet at Park Avenue Synagogue, she regularly sings for services, concerts and recordings with Cantors Azi Schwartz, Shira Lissek and Rachel Brook. The vocal quartet along with Cantor Schwartz appeared in Joseph Cedar's recently released film Norman. Recordings also include a children’s CD and back up vocals for Dave Hall and Barbara Cook. Originally a pianist and flutist, Yonah attended Manhattan School of Music for piano performance, the University of the Virgin Islands, and the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program. In addition to her musical endeavors, she is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner and specializes in working with musicians utilizing the Feldenkrais® Method.
