Afro-Contemporary Workshop with Ada Saliou
December 8, 2025 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Rooted in Ada Saliou Diop’s political dance technique, this Afro-contemporary class invites participants to connect body, rhythm, and meaning through movement as a form of social expression. Drawing from traditional West African dances such as yella and sabar, the class explores groundedness, polyrythmic coordination, and fluid transitions between ancestral and contemporary gestures. Students will engage in dynamic sequences that build strength, awareness, and emotional presence— transforming movement into storytelling. The class is open to dancers of all levels who wish to experience dance as both a physical and political language.
