During Session 1 of camp for Ages 6-8 (July 5 – 15, 2022) , Luke Muscat, MSEd, a doctoral student in Education at the University of Calgary will be conducting a research study that investigates how embodied storytelling encourages children to move in authentic ways and how gender is performed, negotiated, and/or affirmed in the stories children co-author and enact. As a participant in this study, your child will collaborate with their class to collectively author a short story and bring it to life through movement, dance, and music. With consent, your child will be video recorded during the composition and writing process. For more information and to contact the researcher, please reach out to the school director. The University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board has approved this study (REB22-0458). Please note, students registered in this session of camp are not required to participate in this research even though they are enrolled in the session, but may elect to do so. Further forms, as required to ensure ethical practice during the study and full understanding from families as to the process of the research, will be required of those who elect to participate.
