BALLETS BY MARK MORRIS

MARK MORRIS has created eight works for the San Francisco Ballet since 1994, including the first American production of Delibes Sylvia; three works for American Ballet Theatre including Gong with music by Colin McPhee and Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes with music by Virgil Thomson; and has also received commissions from The Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, among others. In 2009, the San Francisco Ballet presented the first All-Morris program, performing A Garden (2001), Joyride (2008) and Sandpaper Ballet (1999). In 2012, Mr. Morris created two new ballets – Beaux for San Francisco Ballet and Kammermusik No. 3 for Pacific Northwest Ballet.

His work is currently in the repertory of San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Houston Ballet. Morris' ballets have been performed by English National Ballet, Grand Theatre de Geneve, The Royal Ballet, The Royal New Zealand Ballet and Miami City Ballet, and numerous colleges and universities.

American Ballet Theatre performed Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes on October 16-20, 2012 and will perform the dance again during their season at the Metropolitan Opera in New York May 21-23.
Pacific Northwest Ballet premiered Kammermusik No. 3 on November 2, 2012. Set to Paul Hindemith’s eponymous work, Kammermusik No. 3 was Mr. Morris’ first commissioned ballet for the company.
