Elissa Cassini

Elissa Cassini’s (violin) musical interests extend from baroque performance to contemporary creation. Praised in her Carnegie debut recital for her “unusually rhapsodic performance, which brought the house down” (New York Concert Review), she has performed extensively as a soloist throughout Europe and the Americas. Praised as "an impeccable and powerful soloist" (Neue Muzik Zeitung) for her German premiere of Anders Eliasson's Concerto for Violin and Strings with the Arcos Orchestra at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Cassini’s performance highlights include Beethoven and Schumann Concertos with the Orchestre de la Francophonie in Montréal, a premiere of a concerto written especially for her by Nicolas Bacri with the Orchestre de Massy in France, and “d’Aller”, and a concerto by Philippe Leroux with São Paulo's Camerata Aberta which “enchanted the ears of all those who came to the excellent performance” – (O Estado de S. Paolo) among others. Cassini’s dual passion for chamber and new music have been united in her newly launched Duplexity Project, designed as a series of flexible duos, re-inventing the classical recital format. With the intention to foster cross-cultural and cross-genre collaborations, Duplexity provides fresh insights into tradition along with outlets for creation through exciting and innovative programming.
