Yiselle Blum

A native of New York, Yiselle Blum (mezzo-soprano) received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wagner College, completing her course of study in only three years, and graduating with distinction for an internship with Opera New York’s Young Artist Program. While completing her undergraduate studies, she appeared in scenes from Hänsel and Gretel, Cosi fan tutte, Werther, The Consul, and Le nozze di Figaro with the Wagner College Opera Workshop. After receiving her B.A. in music, Blum spent a few years gaining stage experience with New York City’s smaller opera companies before beginning her graduate studies at Mannes College The New School for Music. Her educational credits include Maddalena (Il viaggio a Reims), Jo (Little Women), Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Romeo (I Capuleti ed I Montecchi). Other recent operatic credits include: Blaise (L’Arbre enchantée), Maman/Tasse Chinoise/Libelulle (L’enfant et les sortileges), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Lady Pamela, (Fra Diavolo), Rachele/Tiziana (Piazza Navona), and Lola (Cavalleria rusticana). In addition to opera, Blum has quite a love and penchant for oratorio and song repertoire. Recently, she has been seen with the Mannes College Collaborative Pianists in Schubert’s Die Winterreise, The Mannes American Composer’s Ensemble as featured soloist in Derek Bermel’s Canzonas Americanas, and with the Garden State Philharmonic as the alto soloist in Mozart’s Requiem. Blum also has a passion for comedic acting and studied improvisational comedy and acting at The Peoples Improv Theater and The Sedgwick Russell Acting Studio, respectively. This year, Blum looks forward to returning to the Garden State Philharmonic in Handel’s Messiah. In the new year, she will sing the role of Nancy in the Bronx Opera Company’s Albert and finally Blum will make her Fairfield County Chorale debut as the alto soloist in Mozart’s Requiem this spring.
