Details
San Francisco Ballet continues its remarkable collaboration with Mark Morris with its seventh ballet commission, also performed in New York City, Chicago, Washington DC and Costa Mesa during the Company's 2008 North American Tour. The dance is set to Son of Chamber Symphony, a commissioned score by John Adams. The dance was presented as part of San Francisco Ballet's New Works Festival, celebrating their 75th anniversary.
John Adams, World Premiere conductor
"A work of rushing, bounding, swooping flight."
- The Washington Post
"As for Morris’s ballet, “Joyride,” its score, by John Adams, was a riveting, propulsive composition with percussion sounds you’ve never heard before. The dancers are not people, or even dancers, but an idea: urban glamour."
- The New Yorker
