The past two years have taught us that together, as a community, we can achieve great things. As we forge ahead into our 42nd year, I’m excited to announce Mark Morris BOLD — a $10 million investment to bring dance to more than 200,000 people of all ages, with and without disabilities worldwide.
Mark Morris BOLD encompasses three key initiatives:
BOLD Creations — Bringing New Major Works and Repertory to the World
Let’s bring joy and inspiration to thousands of people through the creation, performance, and touring of new and repertory work by Mark Morris. Our bold 2022-23 Season will feature The Look of Love, Mark’s collaboration with multi-Grammy-award winning pop composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach. This new evening-length production will make its world premiere at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA in October and subsequently tour nationwide and internationally.
BOLD Connections — Renewing In-Person Engagement for Our Community
Together, let’s celebrate the benefits that live dance and music education and engagement have for anyone in our community. We’ll boldly rebuild our in-person programs through 125 weekly classes in The School; 50 weekly Adult Classes at the Dance Center; regular workshops, intensives, trainings, and programs with 32 community partners. We’ll keep dance accessible through scholarships for youth and adults, tiered tuition, teaching artist training, and subsidized studio rentals for local artists.
BOLD Innovations — Enhancing Digital Programs for All
With your support, we’ll invest in personnel and enhanced technology to expand our digital programming and foster life-long learning. We’ll curate online exhibitions from the Mark Morris Dance Group Archive; increase our class offerings on our on-demand platform – the Mark Morris Digital Dance Center; launch culturally responsive Digital Dance Labs for community-based partners; and make important accessibility upgrades to our Dance for PD website.
We are excited to move these initiatives forward with your support!
With appreciation,
Nancy Umanoff

when you give by June 30th.
An anonymous donor has contributed $1 million, naming the Maxine Morris Studio and providing a special co-naming opportunity for you and all MMDG supporters.
Now through June 30th, when you make a multi-year commitment — in any amount — you will have the opportunity to be listed on a special donor wall in our newly-named Maxine Morris Studio.
“My mother’s unwavering support was the reason I had any possible contact or interest, in any way, with dancing. That’s why I started The School, and the Dance Center programs.
This campaign builds on that spirit. I’m thrilled to launch BOLD and have this studio named for her.”— MARK MORRIS
BOLD commitments have impact.
MMDG is an economic driver, directly employing 170+ artists and administrative and production staff in New York, and many more on tour.
BOLD work is underway.
We’re advancing IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) through a new ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategic planning process creating transparent benchmarks for how we impact our community and planet.
