Spring awakens early with the return of Mark Morris and his brilliant coterie to their Midwest home. The deep compact between MMDG and Krannert Center flourishes each season through inventive and inclusive engagement work, including the Center’s ongoing Dance for People with Parkinson’s program, and through the presentation of Mark’s brazenly beautiful, exceptionally musical, and evocatively creative works. This season’s program includes the solo dance Serenade, a role famously originated by Morris himself and set to the guitar and percussion music of his longtime friend, the late Lou Harrison; the whimsically clever ensemble work Dancing Honeymoon (complete with a pop-style 1920s and ’30s soundtrack); and two new pieces including A Forest, set to Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 44 in E major.
