Over the past few years, we have made every effort to maintain our dance class rates stable. However, due to rising operating expenses and on-going financial recovery in the aftermath of the pandemic, we find it necessary to adjust our rates to ensure that we can continue providing high-quality dance and fitness classes to our vibrant community. 

We want to assure you that we remain committed to offering exceptional dance programs and maintaining our commitment to affordability. We understand the value of providing opportunities for students to pursue their passion for dance, and we have put measures in place to ensure continued accessibility for all.

To this end, we will continue to provide subsidy programs to help mitigate the impact of the rate adjustment including our Harkness Center Healthy Dance Initiative and MMDG Adult Subsidy program.  

 

What is Tiered Tuition?

The Mark Morris Dance Center is committed to upholding its core values of Community, Access, Artistic Excellence and Creativity. To ensure access to excellent dance education for the entire community, tiered pricing options, in collaboration with our subsidy programs (Adult Subsidy and Harkness Healthy Dance Initiative), allow us to take collective action to reduce financial barriers that have traditionally prevented some students from participating. While they are more accessible rates, payments made Tier 1 and Tier 2 do not cover the actual costs of class. As a non-profit organization, Mark Morris Dance Group subsidizes costs that are not met by Tier 1 and 2 payment options to continue to offer these options for students at those income levels. In order to continue to offer our programs with support staff, live music, and in our state of the art facilities, students who are able can support us and our community by selecting the Tier 3 pricing option. Tiered tuition is run on an honor system; we do not request or examine financial records of any individual. The information above is provided as a guide to help determine which pricing tier you most likely fall under. We recognize there may be situations in which this guide is not applicable.

3 For $45 New Student Intro Offer

The 3 for $45 New Student Intro Offer is available to new students to try 3 classes for $45 within 30 days. This offer is valid for in person and online drop-in classes.  Unused classes are non-transferrable and non-refundable. There are no extensions to the 30-day period for unused classes.

 

Subsidy Friday

Starting January 5, 2024, every Friday we will hold 5 spots in the morning and 5 spots in the evening at the subsidized rate of $12. Sign-ups for the morning and evening subsidy will open 24 hours in advance under the “Drop-in Classes” tab in Mindbody, and will be first come first serve. This new subsidy is for dancers who need a more affordable rate in order to take class consistently, including students below the living wage. Student eligibility is based on self-selection and upholding our honor system.

 

Monthly Pass

The Monthly Pass is a recurring subscription pricing option valid for drop-in classes on a monthly basis in the Adult Program. Students may purchase this pricing option online. The Monthly Pass runs on a month to month basis with no annual commitment. Monthly Pass students receive a 25% discount to the Mark Morris Digital Dance Center when they sign up for a monthly subscription on our on-demand platform: markmorrisdancecenter.tv. Students will receive a discount code in their confirmation email. Please review the terms and conditions below for more information on pricing, cancellation, and additional policies.

Pricing & Monthly Auto-charge

  • $15 one-time Enrollment Fee
    • Charged on the date of purchase
  •  3 classes/month for $57, 6 classes/month for $111, OR 8 classes/month for $144
    • 1st month is charged on the date of purchase
    • Recurring monthly payments are auto charged on the Monthly Pass holder’s “auto charge day”.
      • The auto charge day is determined by the start date. 

Cancellation

  • To cancel a Monthly Pass, the pass holder must send a written request to the Adult Programs Management at the Mark Morris Dance Center.
    • Written requests must be received at the Dance Center 2-weeks prior to the auto charge day.
    • Written requests are accepted:

      • Mailed to 3 Lafayette Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11217 ATTN: Adult Programs Management
      • Dropped off at 3 Lafayette Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11217 ATTN: Adult Programs Management
    • Requests for cancellations received less than 2-weeks prior to the auto charge day will not be accommodated.
  • If a former pass holder would like to purchase a new Monthly Pass in the future, they will be subject to the $15 enrollment fee.

Policies

  • There are no extensions for unused classes at the end of month.
  • There are no roll-over classes from month to month.
  • There are no pro-rated refunds for unused classes.
  • The $15 enrollment fee is non-refundable.
  • All monthly payments are non-refundable.
  • The Monthly Pass is non-transferrable.
    • Classes on the Monthly Pass can only be used by the pass holder.
  • The Monthly Pass cannot be paused, held, or frozen.
  • The Monthly Pass is valid for drop-in classes only.
    • This excludes master classes, workshops, artist labs, 6-Week Intro Series, and intensives.
  • A valid card must remain on file.
    • To change your billing information:
      • log in to your Mindbody account and update your billing information
      • If you need assistance updating your billing information, please email adultprograms@mmdg.org 2 weeks prior to your auto charge day.
        • Requests for billing updates received less than 2-weeks prior to the auto charge day will not be accommodated.
  • A $5 late fee will be applied to all declined charges.

Monthly Pass Changes

  • If you would like to change your 3-Class Monthly Pass to a 6-Class Monthly Pass or 6-Class Monthly Pass to a 3-Class Monthly Pass, you can do so in-person at the Dance Center or by emailing adultprograms@mmdg.org.
    • Upgrades will be reflective on the month following the request therefore requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to your auto charge date. Requests made less than 2 weeks prior to your auto charge date cannot be accommodated until the following month.

 


REGISTERING FOR ONLINE DROP-IN CLASSES

      • Please view our class schedule by day page to register for drop-in classes.
      • Registration closes 30 minutes before the start time of class.
      • Registered students will receive Zoom meeting details in their email confirmation upon registration.
      • You may cancel your registration up to one (1) hour prior to the start time by logging in to your Mindbody account. Your class session will automatically be returned to your account and will remain available for use for one (1) month from original purchase date.
      • Note: Only a select number of drop-in classes are offered online. Please check the Drop-In classes page.

REGISTERING FOR IN PERSON DROP-IN CLASSES

      • Please view our class schedule by day page to register for drop-in classes.
      • Review our Safety Measures prior to your first class in-person class.
      • You may cancel your registration up to one (1) hour prior to the start time by logging in to your Mindbody account. Your class session will automatically be returned to your account and will remain available for use for one (1) month from original purchase date.
    • 6-week Intro Series
      • Cancellation Policy:
        • Students who register for a 6-Week Intro Series have the option of canceling their registration by emailing adultprograms@mmdg.org up to 48 hours prior to the first class of the series to transfer their registration to another session within 1 year of original session registration.
        • Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the first class of the series are non-transferrable and non-refundable.
        • Make-up credits for missed classes within a session are not available.
        • Pro-rated refunds for missed classes within a session are not available.

ARRIVING AT THE DANCE CENTER

      • Please self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and infections prior to coming to the Dance Center.
      • Entry is permitted regardless of vaccination status.
      • Review the mask policy of the class you have signed up for. You can find this under the class title in drop-in classes next to the instructor’s name. 

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS

      • All purchases are final, non-refundable, & non-transferable.
      • Teaching Artists are subject to change. Substitute Teaching Artists will be listed on our class schedule by day page.
      • If the Dance Center must cancel a class, pre-registered students will be notified by email and the class will be credited to their account.
      • The minimum age for all Adult Program classes and workshops is 14.
      • There is no barre rate for ballet classes.

ACCESSIBILITY

The Mark Morris Dance Center is committed to providing access to people of all ages and abilities. The Dance Center is an accessible and inclusive venue that includes ramps, elevator, and accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms on the first and fourth floors. Therefore, if there are accommodations that you require due to physical health, mental health, or a disability, please email the Education Department at adultprograms@mmdg.org at least one (1) week prior to your class.
