Dominique Gagné^
piano
Dominique Gagné is an award-winning flutist, pianist, and composer who translates her fascination with cultures into sound. Trained classically but raised by a father who played jazz piano, Gagné loves exploring varied genres, including Brazilian and Latin jazz, Choro, Flamenco, Moroccan Gnawa, English Country, and Contra dance. As a flutist, she plays in a duo with seven-string guitarist Cesar Garabini, with bassist Santi Debriano’s nonet, and with the all-female Lulada Club salsa band. She loves playing music for dance and performs on both flute and piano for Country Dance NY for English Country and Contra dances. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard, and Zinc Bar, as well as venues in Canada, Europe, Japan, and Indonesia. She is a teaching artist with 92NY and an accompanist for Ballet Academy East. She hopes to inspire more musicians, especially girls, to play and improvise in every style they happen to fall in love with.
