Roya Carreras

Roya Carreras is a first-generation Iranian-Hispanic multi hyphenate movement artist and ballet educator who teaches and sets work worldwide. She has worked closely with BodyTraffic, Arias Company, Danielle Russo Performance Project, and Lux Boreal Danza Contemporanea in Tijuana, Mexico. Carreras holds a BA in Dance from UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts, with additional training from The Ailey School and Springboard Danse Montreal. As a ballet educator, she has worked with Riverside Ballet Arts, Riverside City College, California Institute of the Arts, Inland Pacific Ballet, Pasadena Dance Theater, Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (LA and NY campus), New Canaan Dance Academy, Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet, and Harlem School of the Arts. She was the Director of the School at Peridance in New York City where she currently teaches all levels of ballet and works with the Certificate and Independent study program. Her most recent choreographic commissions include Boston Dance Theater, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, the Certificate Program at Peridance Center, and L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. Residencies include MANCC, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, in 2018, and Columbia Ballet Collaborative in 2015. Roya will begin her MFA studies at the University of the Arts this Summer, 2024.
