DOMINIQUE LABELLE (soprano) has fearlessly plumbed the technical and emotional depths of music, turning in performances possessed of “conviction without exhibitionism” (De Telegraf), that have “the audience hanging on every note” (Boston Globe). Recent and upcoming engagements include Faure Requiem and Bach Christmas Oratorio with Carmel Bach Festival and Paul Goodwin; Benda and Zelenka arias with Nicholas McGegan and the Budapest Festival Orchestra; and Messiah with Detroit and Houston Symphony Orchestras. A favorite collaborator is Iván Fischer, with whom she performed the Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro at Teatro Perez Galdos in Las Palmas, Bach’s B-minor Mass in Washington, D.C., St. Matthew Passion with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, and a Mozart Requiem with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall. Labelle also works regularly with conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni, who has brought her to Columbus for Beethoven, Barber, Brahms, Mahler and Verdi. Twentieth century music credits include Shostakovich’s Seven Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok, Britten’s Les Illuminations, and John Harbison’s The Rewaking (recorded for Musica Omnia).
