Hip-Hop
Established in the 1970s in New York City, hip-hop dance – as an element of hip-hop culture – has become a popular and innovative movement style across the world. Our classes begin with a community-building warm-up, followed by skill building in large and small groups. Students learn and build on choreography, and class culminates in a cypher style improvisation. In all levels, students explore their personal voice through freestyle (improvisation) and a wide range of codified styles, including breaking, popping, and locking.
