Houston Ballet returns to The Joyce with a sensational program highlighting the skills of its magnificent dancers and featuring fabulous music ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. The roster includes Director Stanton Welch’s Play, set to the techno sounds of Moby and described by The New York Times as “a quirky exploration of youthful alienation,” and Mark Morris’ Pacific, a joyous piece, heralded by The Washington Post as “a creation of unalloyed beauty,” set to American composer Lou Harrison’s Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano. Also on tap — Solo, Hans van Manen’s athletic tour de force for three male dancers set to Bach’s Suite for Violin in D minor that was first performed by the Netherlands Dance Theater in 1997; and Ben Stevenson’s Twilight, a romantic pas de deux set to Rachmaninoff’s beautiful Elegie, Op. 3 No. 1.
