Based on George Orwell’s classic novel 1984, BLINDSPOT is a live dance and multimedia piece. In this work, the slogan of the party, “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength,” is translated into a movement narrative that includes live music and media projections to create an immersive multimedia experience for the audience. “I would like to share a message through my work that will generate awareness towards current social and political issues. I believe that BLINDSPOT is a timely piece that will resonate with audiences and force them to reckon with what their role is in our society. Will they stand up and demand change, or will they be a passive observer following orders? Furthermore, this message will help audiences to look inside their personal lives and evaluate their relationship with social media platforms and smartphones.” – Carmen Caceres
