Ai Isshiki was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, raised in Chiba, Japan, and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. She received her degree in Film Scoring and Composition from Berklee College of Music. Ai specializes in accompaniment for ballet, modern, and contemporary classes and currently works with The Juilliard School, New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and for children at the Brooklyn Waldorf School in their Eurhythmy program. Past work includes, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, David Dorfman Dance, Boston Ballet, Ballet Arts, Broadway Dance Center, Peridance, Ballet Tech School, Dance New Amsterdam, Gibney Dance, Kirkland Classical Ballet, Ellison Ballet, Green Street Studios, Dance Complex, Ballet Rox, Boston College, Boston University, Boston Conservatory, Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre. Additionally, Ai provides accompaniment for various master classes, Broadway theater auditions, chamber ensembles, etc. Her original compositions are often written for and in close collaboration with films, dances, conceptual performances, and various medias.
