With polished, elegant vocalism and committed dramatic portrayals on-stage, American mezzo-soprano Jamie Van Eyck appeals to audiences and critics alike as a compelling young artist in opera and concert. This season she sings the role of Ruggiero in Handel's Alcina with New York City's Whitebox Art Center, and reprises the roles of Dido and The Sorceress with the Mark Morris Dance Group and Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra in performances of Dido and Aeneas . She debuts with the Alabama Symphony as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and returns to the Colorado Symphony for Handel's Messiah. She sings recitals in guest artist appearances for the University of Louisville and the University of West Florida, as well as Baylor University. Ms. Van Eyck will make her South African concert debut in a recital tour featuring the songs of Johannes Brahms.
