Nicole Philippidis

Nicole Philippidis is the Artistic Director and Choreographer of 277 Dance Project, a New York City-based contemporary dance company, which she founded in 2009. She also works as a filmmaker and most recently founded 277 Films in 2020. As a choreographer, she has produced 12 evening-length and short works that have been presented at such leading New York City venues as Dance NOW Festival at Joe’s Pub/The Public Theater, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Abrons Arts Center, Triskelion Arts, Dixon Place, and Bryant Park Dance Festival, among many others. As a dance filmmaker and editor, she has created various short dance films, mixed media for the stage, and music videos that have been presented at multiple film festivals in the United States and Europe. She holds a B.F.A. degree in dance from Marymount Manhattan College, where she was a recipient of a competitive four-year dance scholarship and is currently on the Dance Advisory Board. She earned an M.S. in education from the City College of New York and received a teaching fellowship in the arts.
