This collection of archival material features performance videos and photographs of Mark Morris’s L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato from its premiere in Brussels in 1988 to a film made of the work in 2014.
The video playlist below includes “Gorgeous Tragedy” from L’Allegro’s premiere run in Brussels in 1988; former Mark Morris Dance Group dancer and current Dance for PD Program Director David Leventhal performing the “Bird Solo” in Berkeley in 2000; “The Hunt” at BAM in 2001; and three selections from the L’Allegro film produced in Madrid in 2014: “Haste Thee Nymph,” “Come, Come,” and “Day’s Garish Eye”.
