Holidayland is a new family-friendly evening-length dance and music production staged and choreographed by Morris. A joyful, all-ages program, Holidayland celebrates the richness and diversity of communal traditions across cultures and seasons.
To bring this vision to life, Morris has assembled an exceptional creative team, each bringing a distinct artistic perspective to the project. Acclaimed composer Nico Muhly will create an original score, bestselling Goosebumps author R.L. Stine serves as dramaturg, Obie Award–winning scenic designer Allen Moyer will construct an imaginative visual world, and longtime MMDG collaborator Elizabeth Kurtzman will design costumes that reflect the vivid, eclectic spirit of the production. MMDG Music Director Colin Fowler will lead the music ensemble, integrating all components of the production.

Details
In R.L. Stine’s developing narrative, Holidayland is a fairy tale in which two siblings happen upon a magical village where one day each year bursts into light, music, and celebration while the rest of the year remains cloaked in darkness. They join the villagers (including dancing animals!) in mysterious rituals: candlelit gatherings, communal songs, and vibrant festivities that welcome all. But as the celebration draws to a close and shadows begin to encroach, the siblings must move through fear and transformation to find their way out. Though the celebration fades and the shadows return, the siblings emerge transformed, holding fast to the beauty, mystery, and delight of what they had witnessed.
