Morris’ third take on the Gluck opera, his second as director, and his premiere at the Metropolitan Opera.

Transimitted to movie theaters around the world as part of The Met: Live in HD series. The series was shown in more than 30 countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato hosted the transmission, which was directed by Barbara Willis Sweete, who also directed the films Dido and Aeneas and Falling Down Stairs.

The Metropolitan Opera Radio on SIRIUS 78 and XM Radio 79 broadcast the premiere on January 9 as well as the January 14, 20, 24, and 28 performances.

January 9 and 20 performances were available via RealNetworks internet streaming at the Met’s website.

January 24 matinee was heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
