As one of the leading performing arts presenters in the nation, Cal Performances annually serves an audience of more than 250,000 at five venues with live performance, education, and community programs. Under the artistic direction of Robert Cole since 1986, Cal Performances has presented, produced, and commissioned an impressive body of work, including many world and American premieres; and they have become a leading provider of arts education for Bay Area school children and teachers.

Cal Performances also serves as an important resource for the University of California, Berkeley, creating exciting opportunities for students and faculty to interact directly with renowned artists in master classes, lectures, workshops and symposia. Reflecting this artistic growth, Cal Performances' annual budget has grown from $3.9 million in 1991 to $13 million today.
