Details
Dido and Aeneas is the first great opera in the English language, written in 1689 by the then 30-year-old Purcell. In his version, staged while in residency in Brussels, Belgium, Mark Morris originated the roles of Dido and the Sorceress alongside the acclaimed dancers of his company. He continued to dance these roles until 2000.
