Mark Morris Dance Group Archive launches digital exhibits
Explore multimedia exhibitions and thousands of archival materials, now accessible through Mark Morris Digital
The Mark Morris Dance Group Digital Archive — an online catalog dedicated to the preservation of MMDG works, performances, performers, and media — is now accessible through Mark Morris Digital and features the addition of curated digital exhibitions. The Archive currently features six exhibits, with plans to update these media galleries throughout the year.
The inaugural collections include:
Photographs by Tom Brazile
Showcasing the work of the prolific dance and performing arts photographer, Tom Brazil, who produced some of the earliest photographs of the Mark Morris Dance Group.
Grand Duo: Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Academy of Music
Highlighting the enduring partnership between the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Academy of Music through videos, photographs, and promotional materials documenting performances over the last 38 years.
The Brussels Years: Rehearsal at Rue Bara Studios, 1988-1991
Folothe Dance Group’s tenure as the Monnaie Dance Group/Mark Morris, the company-in-residence at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Belgium.
Performance Videos: 1980-1989, 1990-1999 & 2000-2009
Three exhibits, all highlighting moving image materials depicting performances, rehearsals, interviews, and more from each decade.
The enhancement of the Mark Morris Dance Group Digital Archive is made possible with support from individuals and institutions through the Mark Morris BOLD campaign’s Bold Innovations, aimed at fortifying MMDG’s virtual lifeline to global audiences through ongoing digital programming, as well as content curation and access to the Archive.
Our vision for engaging 200,000 people worldwide.
There’s still time to help us reach our first BOLD campaign benchmark to raise 5 million dollars toward our 10 million dollar goal.
When you make a multi-year commitment – in any amount – you have the opportunity to be listed on a special donor wall in our newly-named Maxine Morris Studio at the Mark Morris Dance Center.
