Adaptive versus Inclusive Teaching: Strategies for Both | Thurs. March 9 | 10am-12pm| Space TBD | Set up as a panel, this session will focus on the difference between Adaptive Dance and inclusion instructional environments, as well as discuss successful strategies for either and both. |
Music and Dance Workshop – Deep Dive on Communicating Effectively in the Studio +* | Fri. April 21 | 4-6pm | Maxine Morris Studio | Led by David Leventhal, this workshop will focus on clear communication strategies used between teaching artists and musicians in the dance studio to ensure music concepts are being taught in synchrony with dance concepts.

Teaching Dance to English Language Learners through a Culturally Responsive Lens | Tues. May 9 | 10am-12pm | Space TBD | Led by Alex Cook, this workshop is focused on providing support for dance class participants who may be learning English for the first time. Strategies will focus on providing an environment in which students are able to easily follow instruction, have the opportunity to acquire new vocabulary in dance, and can easily share mother-tongue substitutions when necessary. Alex has a certification in Teaching ELLs in the Mainstream Classroom. |
Curriculum Slam | Weds. June 14 | 4-6pm | Space TBD | This is a fun, energetic opportunity where teaching artists of all disciplines share a 7-minute classroom highlight surrounding a common theme (music & dance, creative process, role of an audience member, etc.). Applications to present at this event will be due by May 9 – more information to be sent at a later date. |
