The Mark Morris Dance Center hosts multiple spaces for live performance rentals, including dance performances, theatrical productions, concerts, recitals, fashion shows, and more.
Our largest performance space is the James and Martha Duffy Performance Space, a 3600 square foot, wheelchair accessible, column-free dance studio located on the top floor of the Dance Center, for your performance. The space features a repertory light plot specifically designed for dance, a grid-mounted six speaker sound system with subwoofer, a triple-basket weave sprung sub floor, covered with Marley-type PVC dance flooring, a small backstage area, dedicated bathrooms on the same floor, and a 5th floor lobby area overlooking downtown Brooklyn. The space amenities include portable ballet barre sand a Steinway grand piano.
For smaller Studio Performances, we offer our four largest studio spaces: The James and Martha Duffy Performance Space, Robert W. Cole Studio, Maxine Morris Studio, and Studio E. These spaces are ideal for informal performances and showings.
A private pre or post-performance reception for up to 60 people can be added in the 4th Floor Lounge and Terrace for an additional fee.

PERFORMANCES IN THE JAMES AND MARTHA DUFFY PERFORMANCE SPACE
Theater Setup
The James and Martha Duffy Performance Space can be converted into a 3-wing flexible studio theater that includes audience risers with up to 166 seats, three wings and lighting booms each on stage left and stage right, a cyclorama, and rear black traveler to cover the cyclorama. The exact number of audience seats are determined per production as chairs may need to be removed for a tech table, videographer, photographer, wheelchair seating, or a music pit.
The Theater Setup is available on specific performance weekends during the year. Renters must book both days each weekend with Sundays available upon request. Available weekends are listed in the Performance Space Request Form.
Prices start at $4,015/weekend or $3,575/weekend for Nonprofits.
Floor Seating Setup
The James and Martha Duffy Performance Space can be outfitted with up to 100 folding chairs in a proscenium, thrust, or custom arrangement, allowing for greater flexibility while still offering full use of the repertory light plot, the grid-mounted sound system, and the additional ancillary spaces. This set up is offered in our space year-round on Friday and Saturday evenings.

STUDIO PERFOMANCES
Performances without theatrical lights can be hosted in the James and Martha Duffy Performances Space or in our other large studios. All of these studios feature triple-basket weave sprung sub floors covered with Marley-type PVC dance flooring, studio sound systems with Bluetooth connection, portable ballet barres, and pianos.
