Our Bessie Nomination!
The New York Dance and Performance Awards, THE BESSIES, nominated the Mark Morris Dance Group in their 2024 Outstanding Revival category for our performance of Castor and Pollux (1980) at The Joyce Theater.
It’s an honor to be nominated by the Bessie Awards Selection Committee, an independent committee of dance industry peers. Before the 2023 Joyce performance, Castor and Pollux had not been performed by the company since 1981!
The Bessies announced 2024 & 2025 award winners on January 20 at Dixon Place in New York City. Join us in congratulating our fellow nominees as well as the winner of the 2024 Outstanding Revival category, The Rite of Spring (1975) by Pina Bausch; reimagined by Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo for the Bausch Estate; restaged by a specially assembled company of 34 dancers from 14 African countries at Park Avenue Armory.

At the Dance Center: Mid Winter Music & Dance Camp
Fill your mid-winter break with music and dance! Mark Morris Dance Center and Brooklyn Music School are teaming up once again to offer a Music and Dance Camp for children ages 5 to 12.
Campers start the day at the Mark Morris Dance Center (3 Lafayette Avenue) exploring choreography and learning a variety of dance styles. In the afternoons at Brooklyn Music School (126 St. Felix Street), students participate in drumming, musicianship, choir, and musical theatre. Each session culminates in an informal performance for family and friends at Brooklyn Music School’s Playhouse.
The Mid-Winter session (February 16–20) is inspired by Mark Morris’s latest work, MOON.
All camps sessions are open to children at all levels, with and without disabilities.
From Dance for PD: 7th World Parkinson Congress
We’re proud to share that Dance for PD is an organizational partner of the
World Parkinson Congress, returning to North America for the first time in ten years.
🗓️ May 24–27, 2026 | Phoenix, Arizona
WPC 2026 brings together people living with Parkinson’s, care partners, clinicians, researchers, and advocates from around the world for a fully inclusive, uplifting international gathering. Dance has long been a vibrant part of the Congress, and 2026 continues that tradition with performance opportunities, participatory classes, pop-up experiences, and moments of shared movement throughout the event.
New this year is the Movement Village—a dedicated space highlighting movement-based programs like Dance for PD and others that support living well with Parkinson’s through creativity, connection, and embodied practice.
