Photography or filming anywhere in the Mark Morris Dance Center is strictly prohibited without permission from MMDG staff. If you wish to request permission to photograph or film inside the Dance Center for public use (i.e. Youtube, personal website, postcards, audition videos, etc), you must fill out a Space Request Form detailing your intent. Your request will be considered promptly and a response authorizing or denying approval for the shoot will be issued within 5 business days.
Video/photos taken for private, personal use (i.e. rehearsal review, non-public archives) do not need approval.
The Mark Morris Dance Center requires the location credit “Mark Morris Dance Center” in all public uses of Dance Center footage in print, on the web, in broadcast, and in any other public medium.
Photography & Video Shoot Request
The Mark Morris Dance Center reviews requests for photography and video shoots on a case-by-case basis.
General Rules
- The Dance Center reserves the right to require that a Dance Center employee accompany shoot crew at all times when they are in the Dance Center.
- The Dance Center is a community center for many families, and we are respectful of their privacy. With this in mind, children, adults, and staff may NOT be filmed or photographed without their consent. This includes incidental background footage. If shooting in a public area of the Dance Center, signs must be posted alerting people that they may be filmed and to check in with the MMDG front desk if they do not want to be filmed.
- You may film in the approved space or studio ONLY.
- Public spaces in the Dance Center shall not be used as holding space for equipment, cast or crew. Additional space may be rented, subject to availability.
- A detailed shoot schedule must be provided to MMDG at least 48 hours prior to the film shoot. This schedule should outline each day’s shoot, personnel present, spaces used, and equipment required.
- A detailed list of all equipment, props, and items brought in to the Dance Center must be provided in advance. Each item’s weight, size, quantity, composition, and placement should be specified.
- The shoot organizers should elect one representative to relay requests and communications to MMDG staff. This person shall be responsible for their party and is expected to know the number of people in their party and their locations.
- The name, logo, or any likeness of MMDG cannot be used without express written permission.
- The Dance Center reserves the right to deny shoot requests at any time.
